From a buyer’s perspective, this influences whether or not your P&P rates are perceived as reasonable. Although buyers may not be aware that a part of your costs are used for packaging, this has a significant influence on their decisions when completing detailed seller ratings.

Best practices for packaging include:

  • Fragile items should not touch each other or the outer packaging. The space between should be filled with appropriate cushioning material to prevent any breakages.
  • Ensure the packaging is strong enough for the item or items.
  • Check that the packaging is thoroughly sealed with strong vinyl or nylon tape.
  • Any items with sharp edges or unusual shapes should be packed with ample padding to prevent tearing.
  • Items should not move freely within the packaging.
  • Use a fragile sticker when necessary.

Recent sales calculates the ratio between the times your listing shows up in search result pages (search impressions) and the number of sales it generates. Using keyword spamming to increase exposure on search result pages where your listing is not relevant results in a demoted listing because it will have more search impressions but less sales.
Best practices for optimum listings performance include:
Providing an unambiguous and factual description of items
Checking that items are listed under the appropriate category
Making sure all brand names are exclusive to each particular listing and are not misleading, e.g. do not include references to other brands
In addition, avoid keyword spamming as illustrated in the following examples:
Nearly New, As New, Like New
Palm Treo, not iPod, iPhone, BlackBerry, Nokia

Tips for Amazon Sellers

Amazon has become one of the most lucrative place to sell items by on-line sellers.  Here are some of the best practises that you can use to sell more on Amazon Market place.

1) Use search keywords from your item descriptions to drive traffic to your products. Use synonyms for alternative keywords. Put these search words in logical order. Make sure you do not misspell your keywords.

Amazon Already use following search keywords so you have only need to enter keywords from the item description.

  • Title
  • Brand
  • Designer
  • Manufacturer
  • Manufacturer part number
  • Standard product ID (UPC, EAN, GTIN)

2) Amazon has a very specific image requirements. Make sure the image backgound is white and no borders. Image must be at least 110px.  Recomended size is 500x500px. Images must not be larger than 1280px. Prefered image file is JPEG (jpg).  GIF format is also accepted.
